Odyssey Celebrates First Annual United Nations’ World Interfaith Harmony Week

In News by

In 2010, HM King Abdullah II and HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad of Jordan called on the United Nations to create World Interfaith Harmony Week. The resolution was unanimously adopted and this year marks the first annual celebration of interfaith harmony, throughout the first week of February. The celebration seeks to promote dialogue among all people regardless of their perspectives and to build momentum for interfaith initiatives worldwide.

Odyssey Networks, America’s largest multi-faith media coalition, is putting its full support behind this initiative. Beginning February 2 at http://www.odysseynetworks.org an assortment of videos will feature faith leaders, sharing their thoughts and perspectives on interfaith relations. Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Hindu leaders speak out about the meaning of interfaith, the priorities of the interfaith movement in today’s world and its role in current political tensions, as well as their personal interfaith experiences.

Imam Feisal Rauf, of the Cordoba Initiative, will launch the video series as he embarks on a U.S. tour to build greater interfaith understanding and harmony. Additional videos will feature other prominent leaders, including the Rev. John Bryson Chane, the Episcopal bishop of Washington, Drs. Diana Eck & Kathryn Lohre of the Pluralism Project, the Rev. Richard Cizik of the New Evangelical Partnership for the Common Good, Rabbi Irwin Kula, president of the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, the Rev. Otis Moss III of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Dr. Anju Bhargava of Hindu American Seva Charities and the Rev. Gabriel Salguero, director of the Hispanic Leadership Program at Princeton Theological Seminary.
