The General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed on 15 October 2010 the first week of February as “World Interfaith Harmony Week”. The King of Jordan promoted that resolution which was adopted by unanimity. In its core paragraph the resolution.

“Encourages all States to support, on a voluntary basis, the spread of the message of interfaith harmony and good will in the world’s churches, mosques, synagogues, temples and other places of worship during that week, based on love of God and love of one’s neighbour or on love of the good and love of one’s neighbour, each according to their own religious traditions or convictions”.

This seems to be an excellent opportunity for the Coalition to start moving from proposals to action through interfaith cooperation in partnership with the UN. Consequently, the SC will contact in the coming weeks (November 20109 the Jordanian missions to the UN in New York and Geneva as well as pertinent UN bodies in order to find out how the Coalition could cooperate globally and locally to the celebration of this event.
