Universal Peace Federation highlights principles to foster peace among individuals, families or even families of nations. The founding UPF principle of ‘humanity being one family under a loving and inclusive God’ seems simple but has profound implications for the conduct of human relations. We would like to consider how we can step forward towards this ideal.
After Holocaust Memorial Day we have to consider how to prevent current and future Genocides. There are also instances of the harsh persecution of minorities that occur within and across faith regional
lines. These are some of the worst actions that people in the position of power do to others in a weaker position. The consequences of these actions continue for many generations.
One of UPF’s founding purposes was to promote the dialogue between religious and political leaders. Religious leaders should consider the viewpoint of their God, Allah, Jehovah or deity in aspiring to guide human conduct. How should religious leaders guide their followers? If bad deeds are being or have been done by believers of our faith what should we do? What should we do for those who are not of our faith but are being treated unjustly? Religious leaders should seek to raise the followers understanding of God’s viewpoint of their actions. In dialogue with politicians, religious leaders have the role to raise the thinking of those political representatives to decide policies that will bring blessings to a nation and to all peoples of the world.
