Forestation and Interfaith

World Interfaith Harmony Week ” All UPEACE community members are cordially invited to participate in the following activities : Feb 1st – 7th: Wall Poster Expressions Thursday Feb 7th, Thursday: Interfaith Dialogue for Harmony & Peace Venue: EARTH CHARTER Auditorium Time: 12.30 pm – 2.30 pm. Programme: 12.30 -12.50 pm Multi-Faith Prayer/Reflections Ceremony Members of diverse faiths, religions or spirituality beliefs will offer short prayers/reflections related to the theme of faiths and spirituality in building peace and harmony in the world. 12.50 – 1.00 pm Multi-Faith Musical Contemplation Listening to a compilation of music and chanting from diverse faiths and spirituality beliefs and traditions 1.00 pm – 2.30 pm Interfaith Dialogue Forum A sharing by members of diverse faiths and spirituality traditions on the role of their beliefs, values and practices in building peace, justice and sustainability in the world and harmony and interfaith co-operation among different faiths and religions. Imam Feisal will be delivering a lecture on the evening of Wednesday, February 6 at the Buchanan Chapel of Fourth Presbyterian Church’s newly-opened Gratz Center. This event features “The Voice of Moderate Muslims” speaking on the topic of reclaiming religious and political discourse from religious extremists, and will be followed by a reception and book signing of “Moving the Mountain: Beyond Ground Zero to a New Vision of Islam in America,” Imam Feisal is the Chairman of the Cordoba Initiative and a member of the Interfaith Center of New York. 7:00 p.m. February 6, Fourth Presbyterian Church 126 E. Presenters include two of the book's editors, Jennifer Peace and director for Center of Global Judaism Rabbi Or Rose, and two of its contributors, Ali Asani and Reverend Janet Cooper Nelson. It will be moderated by Pluralism Project director Diana Eck and will feature Francis X. Clooney as a respondent. This event is part of Harvard University's Interfaith Awareness Week, in recognition of the United Nations' annual World Interfaith Harmony Week. The event is cosponsored by the Pluralism Project.

Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Imtiaz Sooliman, Founder, Director and Chairman of the Gift of the Givers Foundation. Dr. Sooliman will speak about “The Role of Faith-Based Communities in Social Development”, which we hope will guide our various communities on the long road ahead to improve the lives of all South Africans.

The UN designated the first week of February every year as World Interfaith Harmony Week. UPF and its network of Ambassadors for Peace celebrate this week each year, in a way that encourages understanding, respect, and cooperation among people of all faiths for the well-being of our communities and peace in the world.
