Dr Edward Kessler will shortly be speaking at the 13th Doha Interfaith Conference 2018 held by the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Qatar. The theme of the conference is “Religion and Human Rights“. The conference will be held February 20-21, 2018. Undoubtedly, religions fully protect all human rights and make that a well-established principle in their laws that has to be protected and emphasized. Moreover, religions order to address all manifestations of the violation of those rights which – unfortunately – have spread in our world today like the phenomenon of human trafficking, injustice, the suppression of freedoms, victims of war, displacement, exclusion and asylum, blockade, oppression of women and child labor, the decline of freedom of expression and other human rights issues. If such laws of religions are considered, it would be concluded that all international laws and covenants provisions that are stated to preserve human rights are only an affirmation …

'Religion and its Role in Spiritual and Intellectual Safety’

The plenary session on the first day will offer insights into ‘Religion and its Role in Spiritual and Intellectual Security in the Light of Religious Doctrines’. The second plenary session will discuss the topic ‘Destabilisation of Moral and Intellectual Security’. The third plenary session will discuss the topic ‘Protecting Youth from Intellectual and Moral Violation and Cultural Alienation’. Lastly, there will be a panel discussion on the topic ‘Strategies for Protecting Spiritual and Intellectual Freedom and Security: Future Expectations’.

Doha Conference of Interfaith Dialogue

Qatar will host the 12th Doha Conference of Interfaith Dialogue 2016 next month under the theme ‘The role of faiths … what future for spiritual and intellectual security for society.” The event, being held by the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) will take place on February 16 and February 17. During the conference winners of the Doha Award for dialogue of religions will be announced, the Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported. A number of institutions and individuals are competing for the award. The Center will also hold a dialogue for expatriate communities in Qatar in May to discuss different issues concerning their lives. A similar event was held earlier on Qatari law and its relation with expatriates. Dr Ibrahim Salih Al Nuaimi, chairman of DICID told QNA that the interfaith dialogue conference will focus on the prerequisites for dialogue between religions and explore the common points between different heavenly religions.
