In celebration of Nazareth College, UN World Harmony Week, this virtual seminar will explore the paradox of how religious minorities could be so overtly discriminated against in a country that privileges religious freedom legally. The seminar will discuss the racially and religiously profiling of Muslims that closely resembles religious and racial discrimination historically experienced by African American, Jewish Americans, Native American, and Asian American communities. Speaker Sahar Aziz, a professor at Rutgers University Law School, adopts an interdisciplinary approach to examine intersections of national security, race, and civil rights.
