Mumbai-based student, AK (14), shares some beautiful thoughts around her syncretic beliefs, and the contents of what she calls the "God corner" of her home. "All objects are placed next to each other in what I like to call the 'God Corner' of the house. A few of them have been there for as long as I can remember while a few I placed not so long ago as my contribution to practicing Interfaith Harmony. In the process of making the 'God Corner' even more pluralistic, I've learned how similar we are, if only we cared to look beyond and between the lines of difference, all you'll see there, are syncretic notes, parallels, and love. Religion fascinates me, I find it beautiful and that could be one reason why I've grown up to find a sense of belonging in more than one "faith". The polarization of my country taught me not hate, but the lack of love when the supposed ''other'' is concerned. It's potentially what caused me to hold values from religions or faiths different from ''mine'' so close that it's not only an act of love but also resistance, resistance to the homogenization of the people of a diverse, pluralistic, and syncretic land."
