February 1st is the first day of the World Interfaith Harmony Week, a United Nations observance occurring annually during the first week of February. The concept of Interfaith Harmony refers to the promotion of diversity regarding faith. Even though history showed that differences in religious beliefs have often led to war and bloodbaths, there is no reason why we can't learn from past mistakes. World Interfaith Harmony Week was first proposed in 2010 by H.M. King Abdullah II of Jordan, and then adopted by the UN, but is based on the work of The Common Word Initiative. It called for Muslim and Christian leaders to establish their dialogue on common principles: the love of God and the love of Neighbors.
