Faiths In Tune
In light of its new exhibition "Living with gods", the British Museum has invited Faiths In Tune to contribute several music events to the special exhibition's programme.
The British Museum's new exhibition Living with gods runs from 2 November 2017 to 8 April 2018 and looks at how people have been practising religion throughout human history, highlighting the common elements of worship in different faith traditions and offering "a perspective on what makes believing a vital part of human behaviour."
The exhibition as such covers a variety of aspects from personal prayers to community rituals, yet leaves out the role of music in religious practice. This is where Faiths In Tune comes in to complement the exhibition with two themed music afternoons that show common threads between different religions, expressed through music in four performances per event.
Inspired by the exhibition, the first music event will be held on 3rd December, themed "light & fire", and the second will be on 4th February, themed "water & nature".
