alaysia will observe the 2016 World Interfaith Harmony Week with the ‘Harmony Tour’ programme where community leaders and religious leaders will visit patients in hospitals in their respective states, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup. When launching the programme here yesterday, he said the Harmony Tour programme or ‘Harmony Visit’ coincides with the celebration theme that is Charity for Unity or Strengthening Unity Through Charity Work For All. “The Youth Interfaith Forum will enhance understanding among young Malaysians while the Unity Prayer for Malaysia is a platform for people of various faiths in Malaysia to jointly pray for peace and prosperity,” he said. The World Interfaith Harmony Week was first celebrated in Malaysia in 2011. The Week was first proposed at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly by King Abdullah II of Jordan in September 2010. In October 2010, the proposal was accepted by the UN and the first week of February came to be known as World Interfaith Harmony Week.
