Othello, Sarajevo War Theater

Directed by: Oksana Dimitrieva, Adapted by: Nejra Babić

February 6 (Thursday), 8 p.m., SARTR (Gabelina 16)

As the organizer of the 13th Sarajevo UN World Interfaith Harmony Week, IFB, in cooperation with the Sarajevo War Theater, is pleased to offer all participants a chance to attend a performance of Othello, directed by Oksana Dimitrieva and adapted by Nejra Babić, on February 6 (Thursday). Attendance at the performance will serve as a prelude to a public discussion on Otherness in the Contemporary World: Through William Shakespeare's Play Othello (The Moor of Venice).

The original title of the play we know as Othello was The Moor of Venice. It has been analyzed from countless cultural perspectives. Major works have been written on the so-called Moorish drama in European culture. While the fate of the Spanish Muslims, obscured behind a variety of names, is now treated as a purely historical phenomenon, reflections of it survive in many aspects of modern life. Participants at the 13th Sarajevo UN World Interfaith Harmony Week will discuss the various ways in which these questions of otherness have been interpreted and approached in relation to Othello on February 7 (Friday), 2025.

International Forum Bosnia has secured 75 tickets to the play, Othello, for its members and friends.
