Country: Cambodia
City: Pursat Province
This interfaith event will take place in Pursat Province, a very remote area of Cambodia where a minority community lives. It is a floating village where there are many poor and displaced people settling to live. The hygiene and sanitation conditions there are really bad. There are Muslim, Vietnamese, and Khmer people living together. Children in particular suffer there, getting a poor education. So this will be the first such event that has ever happened in this village. The need for interfaith cooperation is great. Religious leaders play a vital role in this village. Sothearat Seoung, URI Regional Coordinator for the region, will work with religious leaders and facilitate them to working together to organize WIHW. This event will be a very important first step to stimulate interfaith cooperation in the community. About 50 to 100 participants are expected.
