End: Sunday 10th of February 2013 12:00:14 AM
Location: Orange County Public Defender, The City Drive South, Orange, CA, Irvine, US
First Drops is an interfaith organization of young children ages 5-13. The current faiths involved are Catholic, Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Hindu. The children learn about each others religions through the process of visiting religious buildings and performing community service together as a group. During World Interfaith Harmony Week, on Sunday, Feb 10th, the children will gather and go to Santa Ana, CA to feed 100-150 homeless people. Plus, since this is a rainy season, they have collected rain ponchos to hand out to all the homeless people and children. We think this is of importance because it is not something that we are doing just for 1 week. This is something the kids do every 2nd Sunday of the Month - on a regular basis, rain or shine. They stand on the side walk, set up the food and serve the homeless, always with a smile. Also, on the same evening, they will be honored for producing, directing and acting in an interfaith film that has been nominated. We believe that it is important for children to learn early on in life the importance of not tolerating, but understanding and respecting people of all beliefs. But most importantly, to know and follow the common requirement in all religions, which is to take care of those in need. That is what these kids do. In the past, they have collected clothes, toys, and books to give to those in need. And from the past year, we have noted that these kids are more confident and supportive of others. They are balanced in loving their religion and respecting the beliefs of others. This is a quality, when learned early on, will last their entire lifetime.

The February event will serve as an invitation for the audience to put into action what they have learned from all the interfaith . dialogue activities through the Bayani Challenge. The Bayani Challenge is a five day gathering of volunteers where Bayanihan and love for God and Country are showcased through building of schools, health missions, climate change mitigation activities and others. This year we are challenging the impossible by staging the biggest volunteerism event to be done in 38 sites in 34 provinces to gather 70,000 to 10o000 volunteers. Throughout the summit, the participants and the audience will be asked to go on Twitter, Facebook and other platforms of social media so the whole world will know that an Interfaith Summit is happening in Manila as part of its contribution to the Uni-HarmonyWeek. Conference on Discovery of Love of Neighbor and the Golden Rule The conference is a gathering of Christians, Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists to discuss and reflect with only one goal in their hearts: to live the same ideal of loving the neighbor and to live the golden rule "do unto others as you would have them do unto you'i It will show how each culture and religion should not be an obstacle in our relationship with the others, and find the strength necessary to overcome them in universal fraternity. The differences are not cancelled, but are seen as enrichment and invitation to respect the faiths and traditions of others. What should prevail is the dialogue based on lift, mutual respect and trust and to highlight what is commory and yet, it does not bring confusion of faiths. Living perfectly the mutual love will be presented so as to promote with everyone that universal brotherhood is possible. The dialogue based on the "golden rule" little bylittle contributes to the collapse ofmistaken and preconceived ideas about religion and their respective faithful. Everyone is encouraged to be a living testament in loving the neighbor.
