Deputy Culture Minister participates in World Interfaith Harmony Week

Laman Ismayilova Within the World Interfaith Harmony Week, Azerbaijani delegation has participated in a high-level panel at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Azernews reports citing the Azerbaijan Culture Ministry. During the panel, the Deputy Culture Minister, Farid Jafarov, highlighted Azerbaijan’s contributions to regional and global peace and stability under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He also emphasized the role of the “Baku Process” as a global platform for intercultural dialogue. During the trip, the Azerbaijani delegation held meetings with key UN officials, including Felipe Paullier, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, Miguel Angel Moratinos, the High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, and Nihal Saad, the Director of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). They also met with Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, the UN Women Deputy Executive Director. VISITING THE RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN WITH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DISABILITIES

On the 10th of February, at 11.30 AM local time, several representatives of Abrahamic religions visited the residential school for children with physical and mental disabilities. Among participants, there was a nun from Catholic Church in Azerbaijan – Sister Andrea. Participants went to Shagan municipality, where the residential school was located. They brought food with themselves. On lunch time, participants had lunch together with the children and fed those who couldn’t eat their food themselves. To not invade the privacy of the children, we were not allowed to make videos, but could take pictures and made a group photo at the end of the event.

Also, allow the Azerbaijani young people to be exposed to different perspectives and learn from an expert about dialogue and communication in a multicultural world.
