Bahrain’s commitment to religious harmony and coexistence highlighted during World Interfaith Harmony Week

Speaking to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the occasion of World Interfaith Harmony Week, observed in the first week of February, they underscored Bahrain’s exemplary model of religious freedom, where all faiths can practise their rituals freely in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. They noted that Bahrain’s participation in this global observance reflects its commitment to religious diversity, pluralism, and tolerance.
Hala Ramzi, a Shura Council member, commended Bahrain’s role in religious freedom, noting that initiatives such as the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence reinforce the Kingdom’s efforts to fostering a culture of peace and rejecting hatred. She noted that interfaith dialogue is essential to achieving global security and stability.
Ebrahim Dawood Nono, President of the House of Ten Commandments, described Bahrain as a model of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, in line with the Quranic principles of respecting others.
He highlighted that Bahrain’s deep-rooted harmony has made it a place where diverse faiths and cultures are embraced, fostering a strong sense of national unity.
Betsy Mathieson, Chairperson of This is Bahrain society, noted that this year’s theme for World Interfaith Harmony Week, “Embracing Differences, Empowering Communities”, aligns with the leadership vision of HM the King, which promotes peaceful coexistence on local and international levels.
She underscored that Bahrain’s commitment to religious freedom is reflected in its diverse, multicultural society, where people of all faiths live in harmony.
Yousif Mohammed Buzaboon, Chairman of the Bahrain Society for Religious Coexistence and Tolerance (Ta’ayush), commended Bahrain’s efforts in promoting interfaith harmony, ensuring that places of worship, including churches, mosques, and temples, coexist in unity. He stressed that the coexistence fostered under HM the King’s leadership strengthens social cohesion and stability.
Dr. Moza Isa Al Doy, Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Bahrain, highlighted the Kingdom’s role as a global model for peaceful coexistence, where individuals of different faiths live in mutual respect and freely practise their religious rituals in a welcoming environment.
She noted that Bahrain’s longstanding principles of tolerance and peace stem from HM the King’s vision of promoting interfaith dialogue and cultural diversity.
Ibtehaj Khalifa, Advisor and Ambassador for Happiness in Bahrain, described Bahrain as a leading example of religious tolerance, reflecting the values of the wider Islamic world.
She noted that World Interfaith Harmony Week highlights fundamental values for sustainable societies and emphasised the importance of fostering positive social interactions, respect, and meaningful dialogue to ensure lasting peace and development.
