Bridges

The Mosaic team met with youth from diverse houses of worship. The group had a fun time expanding on the topic of Identity, having meaningful conversations, and watching friendships grow. The group started with community-building games and dove into a deeper discussion on what intersectionality means, how our identities are similar and different, and why it should all be celebrated. The group watched a short video on what intersectionality can mean and then got into some hands-on projects. Participants had the chance to create their small group "identity mosaics," using construction paper and deciding on an image for the collective group. The participants wrote parts of their identities on each piece of paper to create a collaborative art piece. Youth also created art describing “wealth” by definition of their faith identities. The participants were thoughtful and engaged, creating dialogue around privilege, different faith identities, gender identities, races, cultures, and more diverse perspectives. The team ended with an "impactful" gratitude activity were they created a "web of connection" using yarn. This group had lots of laughs, great dialogue, and of course opportunities to learn.
