Nigeria: Christians, Muslims Mark Maulud Together in Kaduna to Promote interfaith and harmony

Nigerian Pastor Leads Followers to Celebrate maulud with Muslims in Northern State with the aims of  strengthening  muslims and Christians relation,while stressing that every year many Muslims organization  round the world usually invite him to joined them in the celebration .


 A Kaduna-based Christian cleric, Pastor Yohanna Buru, demonstrated a high level of religious tolerance ,as he led his followers to celebrate Eid-el-Maulud with Muslims in the state which is the birth of prophet mohammed SAW.


Pastor Buru said joining the Muslims in the celebration of the special day does not change his being a Christian, and urged both Christians and Muslims to use the eid period to promote inter-religious tolerance, love, unity and peace Pastor Yohanna Buru, the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical Intercessory Fellowship Ministries, Sabon Tasha, led the team of Christians to Rachers Bees Stadium to celebrate Eid-el-Maulud with Muslims in Kaduna.

 The Pastor Buru told journalists that he was at the stadium to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). It was gathered that the followers of the two faiths said the meeting at the venue to celebrate Eidel- Maulud was aimed at strengthening ties and promoting the culture of togetherness. “The event brought together, men, women, the young, old, community leaders, Islamic scholars, community youth leaders and pastors ,Reverend evangelists and other Christians youth with other peace ambassadors.”

 Pastor Buru said: “The prophet is for everyone irrespective of his tribe, culture, tradition, colour, continent and region as he preached peace throughout his lifetime.” He noted that as a peace ambassador and a Christian cleric, coming to join the Muslims does not change his being a Christian. He said” in each and every year, Muslims from Various places do  usually invite him to attend over 20 maulud celebration across the northern Nigeria including neighboring countries to strengthening better understanding among different faith base organization and to promote tolerance and better understanding

” The pastor added: “During Christmas, thousands of Muslims from different parts of northern Nigeria usually come to church and celebrate with many Christians with the aim of promoting religious tolerance and better understanding among different faith-based organizations.”

 He urged followers of both faiths to use the period to promote inter-religious tolerance, love, unity and peace throughout the nation. Pastor Buru also called on all Muslims to use the Maulud period to pray for God’s intervention to bring an end to problems disturbing the stability of the country. He said: “We must remember that we are from one family Adam and Eve.

We are brothers and sisters that belief in our Holy scriptures Bible and Qur’an and also believe in life after death, then we must be our brother keeper.” The prophet is for everyone irrespective of his tribe, culture, tradition, colour, continent and region as he preached peace throughout his lifetime.”

 ”Our bible teaches us to join and celebrate with our neighbours when they are happy and also  teaches us to mourn with them when they are sad”we followed the teachings of our faith to live in peace and harmony with all human being irrespective of culture,tribe or religion.” 

 As we celebrate international interfaith week and harmony, the Christians cleric said, this is the 1oth years, his church has been organizing monthly event to mark the harmony week.   Stressing that every week, the church has an engagement with other faith base organization which is toward promoting religious tolerance and better understanding among different faith base organization

  Buru felicitate with Muslims world wide ,and urged them to used the celebration period in promoting peace Building and promote interfaith dialogue, and inter-religious tolerance with better understanding among Nigerians ,in other to promote the teachings of Islam.

He said , The visit is aims at promoting Christian –muslims relationship in the state, so as to boost more peaceful co-existence and inter-religious dialogue among different faith base organization in Nigeria,in other to end all forms of ethno-religious, political crisis bedeviling peace stability in the state.

Responding mallam gambo Abdullahi barnawa kaduna expressed satisfaction and urged muslims and Christians to always remember that they are from one biological family While calling on muslims and Christians to keep praying for Nigeria army toward the success of defeating the terrorist and bandit   

the interfaithfaith and harmony allowed muslims and christians to co-exist and promote peace and tolerance
