The URI Cooperation Circle Campinas, with great partnerships and supporters, held an Ecumenical and Interfaith Act themed “Solidarity to the victims of Brumadinho and defense of the environment:  Campinas for a Better Life” to celebrate the World Interfaith Harmony Week on February 9, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Largo do Rosário, the main public square of Campinas. Representatives of 11 different traditions and religions participated. There were moments of harmony and communion among all the participants who deepened on the path of mutual respect. In total approximately 300 people were present. Program: 1- Welcome by Mostafa Bartar - URI Campinas CC Coordinator (text below). 2- Opening of the work by Prof. Eduardo Coelho who presented the set of objectives for the act. 3- Each religious tradition expressed its words of solidarity: - Catholics, represented by Father Benedito Ferraro. - Bahá'í Faith, represented by Mrs. Natalia Londolo Ocampo. - Esperanto Culture and Eco toy library, represented by Prof. Tereza Miriam Meyer Pires. - Indigenous Cultures, represented by Mr. Gustavo Rielli. - International College of Therapists, represented by Catharina de França. - Soka Gakai International Buddhists (SGI), represented by Dr. Ademir da Silva. - Evangelicals, represented by Pastor Edmar Machado of the church Casa da Bênção. - Muslims, represented by Sheikh Walid Abdelgawad and Nader Habib.   4- Artistic presentations in line with the theme of Solidarity – coordinated by Prof. Eduardo Coelho. - Gospel Chant J.R. of the Evangelicals. - Young Band of the Buddhist Tradition Soka Gakai International (SGI) - Catholic Church - "Everything is interconnected in this Common House" - Native American flute. - "Snowball" choir of the Cultural Center School of Music (CCEM)   5- Closure: collective embrace and prayer of blessing.   Attachment - Welcome Message by Mostafa Bartar   The URI – United Religions Initiative – is based on ideals that unite us as a large human family independent of religion, sex, skin color, language we speak, etc. We have differences, but we show more in common than differences, leading us to a unity in diversity. We unite to use our combined resources only for nonviolent, compassionate action, to awaken to our deepest truths, and to manifest love and justice among all life in our Earth community. The purpose of the United Religions Initiative is to promote enduring, daily interfaith cooperation, to end religiously motivated violence and to create cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings. In this Act of Union, where representatives of different religions are present, we celebrate the World Interfaith Harmony Week.
