Nigerian School Mark: An Inspiring and Colorful traditional Inter-Cultural Dance, Faith, and Rhythm
The School of Health and Technology, part of Womenhood School of Health in Kaduna State, Northwestern Nigeria, recently organized a vibrant cultural dance and traditional attire competition to mark this year’s International Interfaith Week and promote the Harmony Campaign.
The event brought together students and youth from surrounding communities, reinforcing the message of peace and unity. Comrade Nurudden Bello, the school director, explained that the intercultural and traditional dance competition was designed to foster religious tolerance and help prevent conflicts within the community.
He emphasized that Interfaith Weekprovides a unique opportunity for students to proudly display their cultural dances, rhythms, and traditions.
The aim is to promote interreligious understanding and encourage better relations between followers of different faith-based organizations in the area. Bello further highlighted that culture plays a crucial role in peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and the prosperity of any society. He stressed that preserving culture is a shared responsibility, as it represents our collective heritage.
Culture is often described as “the way of life of an entire society,” encompassing everything from customs and dress to language, religion, rituals, and art—elements that are passed down through generations. The day’s event not only showcased the diverse and rich cultural expressions of the students but also served as a testament to how people can come together in harmony despite ethnic and religious differences.
This is the true power of culture—a force that has been absent in many parts of the world, leaving peace out of reach. Event highlights included the crowning of Miss woman 2025 “Miss Womenhood College of Health Sciences and Technology,” Additional activities featured cultural performances and a tasting of traditional dishes representing various ethnic groups, such as Gbagyi, Igbo, Kanuri, Hausa, Yoruba, and Fulani. Comrade Bello underscored the importance of culture in society, noting that it aligns with religious teachings when it promotes values of peace and unity.
He emphasized that culture can be a powerful tool to advance various sectors—technology, science, peace, and mutual understanding—ultimately leading to growth and development in any community. Concluding his remarks, Bello expressed gratitude for the celebration of Interfaith Week and the Harmony Campaign 2025, and offered prayers for continued strength and unity in the years to come
