JAKARTA, PGI.OR.ID-World Interfaith Harmony Week with the theme " Uniting For Peace ", celebrated on Friday (2/2/2024), at the Grha Oikoumene building, involving religious figures , and attended by the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the World Council of Churches (WCC), Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay. This activity aims to promote and provide support for efforts to maintain harmony and provide important messages to achieve the desired peace between people, especially between religious communities. Rev. Gomar Gultom explained "Harmonious inter-religious relations in Indonesia are a lesson for churches throughout the world." It is hoped that this activity will be a good experience, so that it will have a good impact, especially in other countries. In his speech, Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay said that "Togetherness, unity and justice are the main focuses of the World Council of Churches. We believe that without justice, there will be no unity. And justice is what will lead us to unity. Just like two scissor blades. They must move and work together, in order to be useful.” According to Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, there are so many conflicts, wars and violence that are currently happening. This encourages leaders to have the courage to say “No!” Peace and unity are of course things that are very possible if we do not give up, and carry out our collective responsibility to bring peace to this world. "If we, as religious figures, can sit together, work together to discuss certain issues, it will certainly make a difference. This is very important for all of us, as our collective movement, what we do together will not be in vain, if we work together we will definitely make a difference, and I believe and pray for all of us, ladies and gentlemen, to continue working , work together for change, thank you and God Bless. Rev. Jimmy Sormin, as SE KKC and coordinator of this activity, said that Indonesia itself annually commemorates WIHW under the Indonesian Interreligious Council (IRC) organization. However, the celebration of World Interfaith Harmony Week 2024 at PGI this time is a little different, because there is a "Painting Harmony" activity. All invited guests are invited to express creative ideas and imagination for justice and world peace, in accordance with the theme of this year's WIHW celebration. This painting is a hope for a better world.
