SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT on this 1st DAY OF UN WORLD INTERFAITH HARMONY WEEK: In lieu of today’s climate of increasing prejudice and stereotyping, CARAVAN launches its new peacebuilding art exhibition titled “ABRAHAM: Out of One, Many”! “ABRAHAM: Out of One, Many” (playing off of "E pluribus unum") is an artistic exploration on living harmoniously, inspired by Abraham; the common ancestor of three globally acclaimed contemporary Middle Eastern artists from Muslim, Christian and Jewish traditions. This strategic CARAVAN exhibition is a creative response to today’s new type of "tribalism,” seeking to address increasingly negative views in the West of Muslims and the recent rise of Antisemitism. The exhibition focuses on what Christians, Muslims and Jews have in common because of our shared ancestor Abraham, and on what we can all learn from his life and faith about living together more harmoniously. The exhibition will involve three celebrated Middle Eastern contemporary artists - Sinan Hussein, Qais Al-Sindy and Shai Azoulay - from Muslim, Christian and Jewish faith traditions. The exhibition will tour for 20 months to heavily trafficked sacred spaces. It will premiere in Rome, Italy at St. Paul's Within the Walls the first weekend of May 2019, and will then be showcased in the United Kingdom over the summer of 2019, before touring the USA from the fall of 2019 through the end of 2020. “What can Abraham teach us today on freeing our world from sectarian strife?” That is the question this timely exhibition seeks to answer! For more information on “ABRAHAM: Out of One, Many” see: www.oncaravan.org/abraham. Partners also include Episcopal Church Office of Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations, National Council of Churches, United Religions Initiative and many others.
