Freedom, equality, fraternity. For a long time, these Enlightenment values seemed evident and generally accepted as the foundation of our model of society. Nowadays they are stretched by various groups for their own purposes and at the same time they come under pressure: both from progressive and conservative angles. Are we lost in the Enlightenment?
This discussion evening is an initiative of the Interlevensbeschouwelijke Werkgroep Gent (IWG): a working group that brings together all the philosophies of life in Ghent and organises all kinds of activities to make interfaith and intercultural encounters possible.
Two members of the IWG steer the discussion in the right direction: Eefje van der Linden, training officer for the United Protestant Church in Belgium and chaplain in the prison in Ghent and Winnie Belpaeme, liberal-humanist consultant at the HuisvandeMens Ghent.
