Brothers and Sisters All: On Overview of Pope Francis’ Call to Hope Addressed to “all people of goodwill,” Pope Francis’ latest encyclical letter boldly calls for discovering “a love that transcends the barriers of geography and distance, and declares blessed all” those who love the human family. Join Fr. Ron Will of the Renewal Center staff for this one session overview of this important new social teaching. (You can also take an in-depth dive into the encyclical, with classes on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Click the links for details.) Francis begins his letter with an incisive examination of the ills that plague society — greed, inequality, racism, religious violence — “these dark clouds … may not be ignored,” he writes, and then “take[s] up and discuss[es] the many new paths of hope.” If this overview intrigues you, you may want to join the Precious Blood Renewal Center team for four evenings studying Pope Francis’ encyclical “Fratelli Tutti: On Fraternity and Social Friendship.” We will have study group meetings on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Follow the links for details. The letter was issued Oct. 4, 2020, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi and much of it was written when Italy was on lockdown because of the COVID pandemic. One commentator calls Fratelli Tutti a “powerful ‘cry from the heart’ to all people of the earth to see beyond their differences — indeed to work with their differences — and begin to grow together to build a new and peaceful world.” Others have called Fratelli Tutti “a radical challenge” and “a blueprint for a world after coronavirus.” “The signs of the times clearly show that human fraternity and care of creation form the sole way towards integral development and peace.” — Pope Francis Oct. 4, 2020 There is no charge for the discussions, but you will need get a copy of the document and maybe purchase a study guide. After you register, you will receive information on how to do this.
