Alignment: Interfaith Contemplative Practices intends to create a community of understanding among people of diverse faith traditions and those who seek spiritual meaning in their lives by teaching and providing experiences of and resources for contemplative spiritual practices from different traditions (including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Sikhism, Baha’i, Indigenous). Our intention is to create a community of understanding and practice that will bridge and expand individuals’ own faith traditions, and that will deepen participants’ spiritual lives and connections to the divine and one another; to discover and expand resources for interfaith contemplative practice; to thereby undergird work for justice in the world. For World Interfaith Harmony Week, Alignment will be hosting a digital prayer wall. On this wall, participants can offer prayers and messages in the pursuit of peace and interfaith harmony. Participants from all around the world may visit the digital prayer wall via a link shared on our website, social media platforms, newsletter, mailing lists, and magazine column. Those who visit will have the opportunity to leave a message on the wall (an image, a thought, a prayer, a song, a poem, or just a few words) and will be encouraged to share any faith traditions from which they come. The wall will be open for the duration of the week, February 1-7, and participants can visit as often as they wish to add more messages and to read the messages left by others. Leaders of Alignment will sit vigil with the wall, holding the prayers offered. The week will culminate with an online gathering to celebrate the gifts presented on the wall and the culmination of the World Interfaith Harmony Week. May we build a common community from our different traditions, all seeking peace for our ailing world.
