In Letters of Support by

Your Majesty King Abdullah,

Your Royal Highness Prince Ghazi,

One of the greatest tragedies in our world is that people concentrate on what separates one from another, instead of finding the even more real aspects of the shared human quest that unify us. I strongly echo the United Nations’ call, under your auspices, to ”recognize that the moral imperatives of all religions, convictions and beliefs call for peace, tolerance and mutual understanding.”

We must use your call as impetus to work harder and more diligently to overcome the political and social narratives that separate us. I have written a book about the interrelationship between Jewish and Islamic spirituality, ”Shalom/Salaam: A Story of a Mystical Fraternity” (published by Virginia Gray Henry and Fons Vitae) to help melt the hearts of Jews and Muslims, hardened by more than 60 difficult years fighting over the same piece of ground in the Middle East. With more than 1000 years of often very positive relations between these two Children of Abraham, what takes place currently in the Middle East is not only a tragedy, but a fratricide.

I thank you very much for your ministrations.

Sincerely,

Thomas Block
