Photography contest and exhibition will be an important part of our program. We will promote this contest online and through different photography institute, clubs & societies. The photographs will be collected through online submission along with a small description of the photo. The theme of the photography contest will be based on our country, its diversity and promoting peace among all.

There will be an art competition among the school kids on the theme related to interfaith harmony and peace. The participating kids will be of age 6 years to 13 years. Through this art competition we will try to promote the concept of harmony & peace among diverse group of people. We will give prize to the best three artistic drawing among the participators. We will also arrange an exhibition of these drawings in through Gen Lab website, facebook pages and among partner media houses to promote the concept of peace among different faith and believe. 7th February 2017

Music has long been an expression of people from different cultures around the world. Different faiths have tunes that connects with soul and bring a common tranquil environment that brings peace in mind. With the songs, music the cultural coexistence of Bengal would be portrayed. Sufi, Kafi, Kirtan, folk, Marfati, Lalon, they have given the message of harmony. The love and peace that we perceive from tunes will be spread from the music and interpretation with music. Gen Lab is also believing that; only music can bring all religions, cultures and virtues in an unparalleled tune. Inspired by the theme of cooperative coexistence we are going to organize a musical event under the name of “Soul Search” where a promising “Traditional Sufi Music” band will present some authentic Sufi, Boul & Marfoti songs and moreover they will discuss the beauty of religious diversity and coexistence of different culture.

The Department of World Religions and Culture & the Center for Inter-religious and Intercultural Dialogue of the University of Dhaka, in collaboration of IARF and URI, held a Peace Rally inside the university campus today (2nd Feb.) at 10 A M.. The Rally was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique. Before the Rally, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, some teachers of the Department, the Director of the Center, and the Chairman of the Department, spoke on the importance of interfaith harmony to promote world peace.

The closing ceremony of our event is dated on 6th February at EMK Center. On that day, the program will consist of keynote speeches, inauguration of photography exhibition, award giving of the participants from different contest and feedback session and discourse on our future activities for peace and harmony.

As one of our goals are to create a space for the freethinking youth, a place where youth can take part in discussions and share their opinions on the social problems they persistently face. This initiative aims to engage youth to share their insight to achieve peace and social harmony. It would help to bring out positivity in them and our youths can use this medium to channel their thoughts on the recent incidence of intolerance and violence happening all around the world. Our main motive is to reach as many youths as possible.

Religion often plays an important role in film, but does film play an important role in religion? Perhaps the better question is, “Does film play an important role in the way people understand religious concepts. They can present truth, truth as they interpret it, or simply ignore truth altogether. A movie can be a work of fiction, non-fiction, or anything in-between. On the occasion of World Interfaith Harmony Week we are launching ProjectHumanism.com, the first ever web portal focused solely on promoting the initiatives of religious harmony and multi-faith collaborations from all over the world. By presenting the incidents, initiatives and ideas on the topic, we hope to inspire others to also come forward with the message of tolerance and initiate change in their respective communities.
