Dialogue Facilitation Training-Report

In by mranderson

As part of World Interfaith Harmony Week, Mosaic: Interfaith Youth Action conducted a Dialogue Facilitation Training designed to equip emerging leaders with practical skills to lead meaningful interreligious conversations in their communities. The training brought together participants from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds for an interactive, in-person learning experience focused on building empathy, strengthening facilitation techniques, and fostering constructive engagement across differences. Participants were introduced to core dialogue principles, including active listening, creating brave and respectful spaces, managing challenging conversations, and distinguishing dialogue from debate. Through role-plays, small group exercises, and guided reflection, participants practiced facilitating conversations on complex topics while receiving peer and trainer feedback. The training emphasized not only skills development but also relationship-building, reinforcing the importance of trust, humility, and curiosity in interfaith engagement. By the end of the session, participants demonstrated increased confidence in leading dialogue and a deeper understanding of how structured conversation can promote social cohesion and mutual understanding. This initiative directly contributed to the goals of World Interfaith Harmony Week by strengthening local capacity for dialogue and empowering leaders to advance pluralism and peaceful coexistence within their communities.
