On a momentous day at the Provincial Capitol of Lanao del Norte, the Philippine Muslim Women Council (PMWC) spearheaded the observance of Interfaith Harmony Week. This event brought together dignitaries, religious leaders, civic organizations, and community members in a shared celebration of unity, mutual respect, and the common values that bind diverse communities together.
During the main event of the Observance of the Interfaith Harmony Week at the Kalimudan Hall, Provincial Capitol, Tubod, Lanao del Norte,
the PMWC President Bai Norhata Macatbar Alonto in her Statement of Purpose and Rationale underscored the significance of interfaith dialogue in nurturing peaceful coexistence. She emphasized that every religious community contributes uniquely to the province’s cultural and social fabric, and that embracing these differences is essential for building a cohesive society. Her words resonated with the gathered audience, sparking a collective spirit of understanding and collaboration.
The Event Keynote Speaker, the Honorable Provincial Governor Imelda Angging Quibranza Dimaporo delivered a powerful address on Fostering Unity Through Dialogue that captured the essence of Harmony Week. She spoke passionately about the importance of interfaith dialogue, highlighting that each community—whether rooted in tradition or modernity—plays a critical role in shaping a harmonious society. Key Speakers Shaik Abdulhakeem Muhammad Al Marawi Al Azhari (Director of Halaqah Al Quran Academy of the Philippines) and Ms Almera Grace Mayo (National President, Women’s Federation for World-Philippines) encapsulated a vision for a community and society where differences are not merely tolerated but are actively welcomed and appreciated.
