The Inter Faith Relations Committee of the MCB warmly welcomes ‘World Inter Faith Harmony Week’, which was announced by the United Nations General Assembly last October. The resolution was moved by the Government of Jordan who declared the 1st to 7th of February 2011 as World Inter Faith Harmony Week.

Ban Ki-Moon, the UN Secretary General, recently stated that this week provides “a unique, historical and unprecedented potential to promote the healing of inter faith tensions in the world”. He said, “I lend my full support to this call and we, at the United Nations, are proud to be the platform for its launch”.

Farooq Murad, the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), stated, “at a time when discord and religious tensions are being stoked, this week provides faith groups globally an unprecedented opportunity to embark upon a powerful project of working together towards unity and the common good. This will be the most practical vehicle for our journey together to achieve harmony, respect and cooperation among people around the world”.
