Bolton is a large town in Greater Manchester- UK. Bolton Interfaith Council, works for community cohesion in the town wit people of faiths and no faith. On the day , we hope to give local people, an opportunity to visit three places of worship- An Islamic Mosque, Hindu Temple and a Christian Church. Through local publicity, we will invite local people to participate to visit three diverse places of worship- at each place a tour will be given and explanation of the faith and its values. At the end of the day we will share food and a reflection on the day. This kind of activity helps to breakdown the wrong perception and barriers and provide better understanding of other faiths and also an opportunity to engage with one another and hopefully become friends.

The West Virginia Interfaith Refugee Ministry, a group of Muslim, Jewish and Christian clergy and laypersons, is preparing the Week of Diversity Celebrations for our community because we believe that only personal interactions between people can counter the anti-refugee sentiment that is on the rise in cities and towns in America. Our city of Charleston, West Virginia, USA is a place with a long history of coal mining. Poverty rates are high, and educational opportunities are available, but often out of reach for financial reasons. Most residents are Protestant Christians, both in the mainstream denominations and Evangelical denominations. Jew and Muslims have lived here for well over 100 years, but interactions between groups are not as common as they could be. Our community also has a strong African-American community, but unfortunately churches and lives are often segregated. We hope that a week of positive opportunities for groups who rarely meet, to get together, discuss issues and have fun, will diminish fear of the 'other' and promote friendships. We want our community to be a place where people protect each other from xenophobia. Here is the schedule for our Week of Diversity Celebrations (subject to change - we have been asked to also link the week to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebrations in January 2016, and we are considering adding travel to hold events in other places in our state or region that have problems with intolerance, so we may add or replace events prior to the dates below): A Week of Diversity Celebrations - 1 - SUNDAY - Kick off event dinner / reception - 300 people, 2.5 hours 2 - MONDAY - Appreciative Practices event - 100 people, 2 hours A two hour practice in Appreciation Includes the spiritual, psychological, cultural, and practical applications 100 people, live presenter 3 - WEDNESDAY - Group Discussions around diversity and accepting the other - 100 people Small group discussion around three short diversity-oriented film clips (Clips from the films Managing diversity and Cracking the Code) 100 people, 10 round tables with 10 people each, discussing 3 video clips - 2 hours 4 - FRIDAY - respectful day 5 - SATURDAY - Nonviolent Communication Introduction - 100 people, 4 hours Introduction in the use of the tools of Nonviolent Communication Saturday morning event, 100 people in a circle, big room, live presenter 6 - SATURDAY - Closing Event dinner / reception - 300 people, 2.5 hours

For the 5th Year members of the Poway Interfaith Team will have breakfast with other city leaders to discuss how we can make a greater impact towards bringing Peace to our city and neighborhoods. Imam Taha Hussane will be a special guest speaker and discuss the Islamic view of average Muslims not being considered as part of radical Islam.

MEDITERRANEAN PEACE DONKEYS to travel to in GOZO, MALTA for Exhibition at the Cittadella Culture Centre. An exhibition of 21 life-sized fiberglass Maltese donkeys painted by noted Gozitan, Maltese, Egyptian and Western artists symbolizing the need for peace between East and West Against a backdrop of the recent extremists’ attacks in the West and conflict in the Middle East, the little island of Gozo in the heart of the Mediterranean is making a strong stand for peace. On 15 January 2016 the island of Gozo will have 21 more donkeys on it: Mediterranean Peace Donkeys. As the first exhibition in the ancient Citadel’s recently restored Culture Centre in collaboration with the Gozo Culture Office. The Mediterranean Peace Donkey project is a peacebuilding exhibition of 21 life-sized fiberglass “Maltese” donkeys painted by premier Gozitan, Maltese, Egyptian and Western artists symbolizing the need for peace and compassion between the creeds and cultures of the Middle East and West, and more specifically throughout the Mediterranean Basin (i.e. a donkey for each of the 21 Mediterranean nations). This exhibition takes place when there has never been a more important time for the peoples of the Mediterranean countries to unite and stand together for peace in the region and globally. This unique art exhibition is a crucial example that people everywhere can participate and work together towards harmony, understanding and peace, with the island of Gozo, both historically and contemporarily, representing an intercultural bridge between the East and West. Organized by CARAVAN, an international peacebuilding arts NGO, The Mediterranean Peace Donkey exhibition uses the symbol of the renowned and endangered Maltese donkey to focus global attention on four critical needs: -Interreligious Harmony: The donkey represents “peace and compassion” in Christianity, Islam and Judaism, and in the cultures of the Middle East and West. -East-West Relations: The Maltese donkey is an historic “East-West symbol,” as four Maltese donkeys were sent to General George Washington in 1786, prior to becoming the President of the United States of America. -Humanitarian Assistance for Migrants/Refugees in the Mediterranean: As a means of journeying, the donkey also symbolizes the thousands of migrants and refugees from Christian and Muslim religious backgrounds passing through the Mediterranean region looking for a better life. The forms for the life-size fiberglass donkeys was sculpted by the premier Egyptian artist Dr. Reda Abdel Rahman, which were then fabricated in Malta.
