Faith In Justice

You are cordially invited to experience a fantastic event scheduled to take place during the World Interfaith Harmony Week 2nd Feb 2012. We have distinguished speakers from the Dharmic Faiths – Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Zoroastrian. who will share their faith perspective on global poverty and debt. Chaired by Rev Prof Michael Taylor and including words from Bhai Sahib Mohinder Singh The event will enable those from all faiths and none to appreciate the role Debt plays in Global Poverty. We hope within this conference you will get the opportunity to share some core beliefs and thoughts on social justice issues as they relate to International debt. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of Dharmic faiths with other faiths communities and also to raise awareness of JDC multi-faith project during the Interfaith Harmony week 2012. In Harmony -- Exploring Sacred Music through the Ages

Sponsored by the Venice Interfaith Community Association (Venice, Florida), this six week series explores many aspects of music in the practice of faith. It runs from January 16 (with an observation of the Martin Luther King Hliday)through February 20. Among the topics presented are: a musical journey from Africa through India; Jewish Music of Andalusian Spain; Gregorian chant; the origin of Jewish music in current worship; and sound as part of Asian meditation (presented by a Buddhist pianist). The Venice Interfaith Community Association is an eight year old organization that sponsors educational and community events through the year.

World Interfaith Harmony Symposium

The symposium, sponsored by Faces of Peace, will feature a keynote speech by Dr. M. Thomas Thangaraj, Professor Emeritus of World Christianity at Candler School of Theology, Emory University and Visiting Professor of Global Christianity, Boston University School of Theology, presentations by the three winners of our student essay contest, and ample time for questions and discussion. There will also be light refreshments. All are welcome to come to ponder and discuss the question: What is the role of education and dialogue in fostering world interfaith harmony? The event will take place in Room 325 of the BU School of Theology.

Silicon Valley Reads: American and Muslim

Reshma Hyder of ING will give a presentation "Getting to Know American Muslims and their Faith" at the Saratoga Library. This presentation is part of the county-wide "Silicon Valley Reads" program, which this year explores the theme "American and Muslim," based on the books The Muslim Next Door by Sumbul Ali-Karamali and The Butterfly Mosque by G. Willow Wilson, each of which gives a different perspective on being a Muslim in the United States. ING is a Muslim-founded interfaith organization promoting intercultural and interreligious understanding through presentations by speakers representing five major world religions in schools, colleges, and community venues.

The House of Religion in Stuttgart invited by Christian Science
