Project tasks will include making cosmetic repairs at the House of Writers and a children's sanitarium. Opened in the 1950s, the House of Writers has served Russian writers for decades. At various times, Anna Akhmatova, J. Herman, Joseph Brodsky, and many others have lived or worked here. The renovations to the House of Writers will be a clear illustration of the benefits of cooperation among people of different nationalities, races, and religions for the sake of peace and harmony. The children's sanitarium serves children with psychiatric and neurological disorders. Local religious leaders will talk about how their religion promotes universal values. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit religious communities in the city, share experiences together, and get a taste of a culture of heart. Working together with other young people to achieve common goals, they will pave the way for lasting peace. Also included in the schedule are a concert and interactive learning experiences that promote tolerance, unity, altruism, harmony, and family values.

Location: Temple Society of Concord, 910 Madison St., near Syracuse University., New York, US
For the second year, WTB joins InterFaith Works in observing World Interfaith Harmony Week, a time when interfaith groups show the world what a powerful movement they are. It’s also a time to affirm the similarities in common values among all faith traditions. Fifteen faith traditions will present short programs highlighting one element of their spiritual life. This spiritual buffet will be similar to last year when we experienced varied readings, choral and instrumental music, and dance. A reception follows, offering people time to talk with each other about the various presentations. The World Interfaith Harmony Week was first proposed at the UN General Assembly last year by the King of Jordan and was adopted unanimously by the UN for the first week of February. It focuses on two religious principles shared by many traditions: love of God and love of neighbor. Temple Concord offers handicapped parking and is handicap-accessible. Parking is also available at Grace Episcopal Church, down the street, and University United Methodist Church, one block north on University.
