A ceremony was held at the Muslim Cultural Centre in Ljubljana, Slovenia, to formally present the Gold Medal awarded to the organizers of Slovenia’s World Interfaith Harmony Week event, which won First Place in the King Abdullah II World Interfaith Harmony Week Awards 2026.

During the ceremony, His Excellency Mohammed Samir Hindawi, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Slovenia, represented His Majesty King Abdullah II in presenting the award to the organizers. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Islamic Community in the Republic of Slovenia and featured a photographic exhibition highlighting the award-winning event.

Upon receiving the award, Mufti Porić expressed his gratitude and emphasized that the recognition reflects the Islamic Community’s long-standing commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation with other religious communities. He noted that the religious leaders who participated in the Interfaith Breakfast are valued partners who share a common commitment to ensuring that Slovenian society remains dedicated to coexistence, tolerance, and mutual understanding.

Mufti Porić also highlighted the longstanding friendship between Slovenia and Jordan, noting that both countries have worked together on numerous humanitarian and peace-building initiatives inspired by the values of human dignity, peaceful coexistence, and interfaith cooperation.

Ambassador Hindawi praised Slovenia as a welcoming and hospitable country and commended the initiative of bringing religious leaders together around a common table. He described the Interfaith Breakfast as an excellent example of the principles of friendship, trust, and cooperation that lie at the heart of both the World Interfaith Harmony Week initiative and the values promoted by the United Nations through the resolution originally proposed by His Majesty King Abdullah II.

The ceremony concluded with expressions of hope that the Gold Medal of King Abdullah II would serve as a symbol of continued cooperation between the Slovenian and Jordanian communities and inspire future projects dedicated to dialogue, harmony, and mutual understanding.
