Week of Interfaith Harmony in Moldova

Chisinau, Moldova – A round-table discussion on “Interfaith cooperation as the important instrument of establishing the culture of peace in Moldova” initiated by the Universal Peace Federation took place on February 2 in Kishinev. The event was connected to the World Interfaith Harmony Week, declared by the UN General Assembly to be celebrated yearly in the beginning of February.

Among the participants in the round table were representatives of different religious organizations of Moldova, including the pastor of a Lutheran church, head of the Islamic community of Moldova, director of the Kishinev Center of the World Spiritual University Brakhmakumaris, founder of Ansuya Yoga Center in Kishinev, followers of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, and an officer of the UN Development Program.

In the course of the meeting, there was a presentation and discussion of the project of creating an interreligious council within the framework of the UN. Also the participants discussed the possibility of cooperation in some public projects. They expressed their unanimous desire to work together to break down barriers in their relationships and achieve common ideals.
