“Sangha Day - "Rainbows of Aloha: Our Interfaith Community and World Peace."

Event: “Sangha Day - "Rainbows of Aloha: Our Interfaith Community and World Peace." When: Sunday, March 1, 2026 Where: Mililani Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 95-257 Kaloapau St, Mililani, HI 96789 Sponsor: Mililani Hongwanji Buddhist Temple & the Oahu Hongwanji Council What:  This was the 1st Interfaith Sangha Day event for the Mililani Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, supported by other Honpa Hongwanji Temples on the western side of the island of O`ahu.  Seven Faith Groups participated, including Soka Gakkai, Bahá’í Faith,  Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Muslim Faith,  Lutheranism,  and Messianic Christian Church, and Jodo Shinshu Buddhism. How Many: 80 people Results: Interfaith leaders joined Hongwanji temple participants, in sharing messages of peace and interfaith harmony. The keynote speaker was Mr. Gerald Oda, Honolulu Little League Manager, who has coached Little League baseball teams, several of whom have won the World Little League Championships. Each faith representative provided a short message about promoting world peace and interfaith harmony from their faith perspective.  Those attending were divided into groups, ate lunch together while answering questions on their own peace building efforts.  Participants were grateful for the opportunity to come together to learn from each other.
