“Iftar Gathering - Cultivating Peace and Refuge” - February 28, 2026

Event: Community “3rd Annual Iftar Gathering - Cultivating Peace and Refuge” When: Saturday, February 28, 2026 Where: Honpa Hongwanji Betsuin, 1727 Pali Highway, Honolulu, HI 96813 Sponsor:  American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Hawai`i, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Hawaii, the Interfaith `Ohana of Hawai’i & others What: This was the ACLU of Hawai‘i's third annual community Iftar Dinner, which was co-hosted by the Ahmadiyya Community of Hawaii, the Interfaith `Ohana of Hawai`i, and others.  It featured an evening of deep reflection on ways we can cultivate refuge, peace, and solidarity to build a true and lasting foundation of belonging across our communities. How Many: 150 people Results: The ACLU Community Forum was held before the IFTAR dinner to promote peace and how faith communities can work together on social justice issues with organizations of civil society. The event occurred just after the breakout of war in the Middle East and continuing immigration/migration challenges.  Faith and civic community leaders made presentations, and numerous questions were raised to speakers and panelists covering a wide range of current social justice isues.
