The Surrey Interfaith Council sponsored the 5th Annual Music & the Spoken Concert as part of their UN World Interfaith Harmony Week celebrations for 2021. Although the event was virtual this year, everyone still felt the positive wave of spiritual goodwill as participants shared selections that they considered sacred or inspirational. Participants came from a diverse cross-section of faith and spiritual traditions including Lutheran, Islamic, Baha’i, Jewish, Unitarian, Hare Krishna, Latter-day Saint and Hindu. Presentations included recitation of Holy Scriptures, poetry, worshipful chanting, prayers, blessings, the singing of sacred hymns, as well as performances of original musical compositions for the occasion. All offerings were well received as the narrator enthusiastically introduced the faith community’s presenter and their particular selection.
