7 Sacred Days in Cape Town dissolves barriers, creates joy for all to share

Cape Town Interfaith Initiative orchestrated a series of events over the 7 days of WIHW, designed to bring together faith and cultural groups who generally have little or no contact with each other, to foster understanding and build community. We were blessed to have the participation of Dr Bhadra Shah, Vice Chairperson of the Parliament of the World's Religions, and Dr Jayana Clerk, a respected lecturer, author and authority on Comparative Religion and World Literatures. Our 7 Sacred Days were filled with joy. 7 Sacred Days in Cape Town is an expression of gratitude for the unexpected blessing of our 2019 WIHW prize. This was our way to keep our promise to amplify the work and the message of Interfaith Harmony at grassroots level, helping to dissolve some of the cultural, geographic, faith, economic and ethnic divisions. We wanted to show the world that love does not separate us from each other, and that we can do a lot together when we have love for all our neighbours. Our sincere prayer is that other cities will follow our lead, because 7 Sacred Days can happen anywhere. May the relationships that grow between faith groups continue to bless our world, and make it a kinder place for all. Our thanks to photographers Laura Elizabeth Pohl and Abdul Karriem Adams for capturing our WIHW 2020 experience.
