Family Development Setting in the different communities (Neighbors in Harmony)
The Silsilah Dialogue Movement conducted a “Neighbors in Harmony” activity in selected communities from some selected barangay of Zamboanga City namely, Brgy. Zone IV, Brgy. Baliwasan seaside, Brgy. Sta. Catalina, Brgy. Rio Hondo, Brgy. Sta. Barbara, Brgy. Zone I, Brgy. Campo Islam, Brg. San Jose Gusu and Southcom Bamboo House. Its goal is to strengthen neighbors relationship and to develop better harmony among them.
Prior to the celebration of the World Interfaith Harmony Week with the Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) Region IX with the assistance of their city link, 4p’s beneficiary will be given a topic regarding the mentioned celebration in the month of February on their Family Development Session (FDS), Each of them have their 3 parent leader (PL) as representatives to re-echo the goal of Silsilah Dialogue Movement, it’s mission and vision of Celebrating the World Interfaith Harmony Week February 1-7 of every year.Each parent leaders have conducted the re-echo are those who were invited and attended the Silsilah seminar workshop on how to be a Pillar of Peace and become “Neighbors in Harmony”.
One initiative that has been promoted since the beginning in Zamboanga City during the WIHW up to now is the Neighbors in Harmony”. These Neighbors can take this occasion to share how to develop better harmony among them and, if needed, to ask for forgiveness for any attitude, feeling or situation among themselves that need to be addressed in the spirit of forgiveness. To share also a spontaneous and universal prayer, like the “Harmony Prayer” and any other creative activity that would build better harmony among neighbors. The initiative can start first among neighbors of the same faith as a first step and after, if a family is ready, invite/visit also neighbors of different religions. Neighbors who promote this initiative are also invited to identify a specific need in the neighborhood to help.
Every session in each community started with harmony prayer followed by introducing the Harmony Chain Initiative the way it was introduce to them, its meaning and purpose, some of the PL re-echo the activity given during the seminar they attended, each topic commence in bringing the message of living life-in-dialogue embracing their own faith, to deepen the understanding of culture of dialogue path to peace, be able to share their experiences to other people and instilling the knowledge in living with Dialogue with God, Self, Others and Creation.
The sessions ended with full of understanding and humbleness, showing in return their enthusiastic responds through the uniqueness of their questions, thoughts and suggestions. The World Interfaith Harmony Week celebration does not stop here, the “Neighbors in Harmony sessions will continue in their respective Barangays in living and promoting the Love of God, the Love of Neighbor and the Love for the Common Good.
