Celebration of World Interfaith Harmony Week in Slovenia

Date: 6/2/2019
Venue: The premises of the Islamic community in Ljubljana
Organized by: Islamic Community in Slovenia – Office of Mufti

Within the framework of the World Interfaight Harmony Week, various events take place in many countries around the world, which enhance the cooperation between people of different beliefs, customs and views, and promote the diversity of religious and cultural understanding and cooperation based on love for God, neighbors and friends. The Islamic Community in the Republic of Slovenia works closely with various religious communities in Slovenia and intends to deepen cooperation at the World Interfaight Harmony Week. On the proposal and invitation of the Mufti and the President of the Islamic Community of the Republic of Slovenia, prof. Dr. Nedžad Grabus on 6 February 2019, the second inter-religious breakfast took place, where we again hosted various representatives of religious communities in Slovenia. Representatives of the Catholic Church in Slovenia and representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church responded to the invitation. The breakfast was also attended by the honorary consul of the Kingdom of Jordan in Slovenia, Mr. Samir Amarin.

At this year's breakfast, the focus was on discussing the importance of young people in religious communities and how to adapt and face the challenges of modern society and belief. These were only the sources around which an informal conversation was held with the attendees as an opportunity to exchange good practice examples. All participants agreed that such events are of utmost importance and should be preserved in the future.

The spirit of the event, a sense of community, was a tribute to the beauty and wisdom of all our spiritual traditions. The celebration of the World Interfaight Harmony Week will become a tradition of the Islamic Community in the Republic of Slovenia.
