WIHW.Nigerian Foundation launched community dialogue campaigns with 100 members to raise awareness toward promoting peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance The national president peace revival and reconciliation foundation of Nigeria pastor yohanna buru has lunched a campaign in some communities which was aimed at encouraging dialogue as a tool of resolving communal and religious differences across the Northern part of country. The theme of the event “Sustaining Dialogue as a Mechanism of Restoring Peace and unity among Nigerians " According to pastor yohanna Nigeria is our country and we must contribute our quarter to ensure harmonious living among its people, especially now that the 2023 general elections are just few weeks away amids of insecurity challenges, scarcity of fuel and naira note currency. He emphasized that They are using the international interfaith week and harmony campaign to sthrenthening Christian and Muslims relationship for peace and unity across the region. He said, the one week event which usually start from 1st -7th of February every year provide huge opportunities for multi religion organization to extend good relationship for peace and unity among the adherence of different faith base organization in the country He added "We recognize the importance peaceful living among all Nigerians irrespective of tribal, race, color, religious or political affiliations because we cannot line up to elect our leaders if there is no peace in the country .and hence the need to join hands together with everything toward Promoting peaceful coexistence in the country. He said members contribute in financing the activities of the group, while soliciting for government and private organizations to equally support to sustained the activities of promoting religious tolerance and forgiveness Part of their mission, he said was supporting physically challenged and sick persons as well as guidance and counseling to youths, and women. He added that they had been resolving family disputes and promoting good policies and programmes of government Pastor yohanna buru stressed the need to encourage peace education for the peaceful co-existence of groups in Kaduna State and some part of northern Nigeria. He believes the fanatical tendencies in many youths can be eliminated if peace education is encouraged. the Christian cleric said adherents of the various religions and tribal groups should understand that there are similarities among the tribes and religions and dialogue cannot lead to syncretism. According to him, “Dialogue should be appreciated by all citizens of the state – young, literate and illiterate, the poor and the rich, Christians and Muslims, and traditionalists.” He noted that retaliation, bigotry, fire brigade approach, compromise, wrong perception of other people’s religions or faith as well as the literacy level of religious adherents could be factors militating against the use of dialogue in resolving conflict. He explained that the best pathway to successful dialogue is by engaging the right stakeholders in society, such as civil society organizations, professional association, leaders, political parties, among others. He then appealed to leadership of the various ethnic and religious groups in the state should also educate their followers on the need for peace and co-existence, before initiating dialogue so that the groups involved will be ready to forego their grievances in the interest of harmonious living and peaceful co-existence in Nigeria, Similarly, one of youth leader in the community sani Dan auta called on government to always support people that are working towards spreading peace and unity in the country He thanks world international interfaith week and harmony for organizing yearly occasion across the universe which is aimed at boosting peaceful coexistence among different faith base organization in the country
