The Department of Women and the Department of Youth of the Inter-religious Council of Albania will organize, on February 22, a social and cultural event with orphan children from one of the main areas affected by the November 2019 earthquake in Albania. In this earthquake more than 50 people died and thousands of families was left homeless.

Hundreds of people were psychologically affected by the disaster, and the most affected ones were orphaned children, in an area that needed not only economic but also social and psychological support.

In this regard, Christian and Muslim women and youth have taken the initiative to organize a social and cultural activity where, in addition to the festive activity, children will be served a shared lunch and gifts and social assistance will be distributed.

This is the first activity of its kind where, through the Interfaith Council of Albania, which is co-chaired by five different religious communities, such an interfaith cooperation will be implemented for orphaned children in the earthquake-affected area.
