The ancient Sufi masters employed different methodologies and practices on a very micro level to subdue human ego under the authority of the purified soul to enable it for Divine Communion. A resultant transnational revitalisation of Sufi spirituality and philosophy in the Muslim worlds was inevitable both in academic and practical spheres. However, growing interest in Sufism both in Muslim and non-Muslim worlds brought us to another challenging paradoxical discourse about modernity and traditional Sufi practices in the context of globalization and individualization, tolerance and extremism, pluralism and totalitarianism, and capitalism and spirituality. This international e-conference attempts to bridge the gap between modernity and Sufi orthodoxy by focusing on the history, practices and contributions of Sufism to create a perfected humanity. It is expected that this e-conference will provide a platform for Sufi researchers and practitioners alike to share, discuss and test their works and ideas.
