In line with Interfaith Harmony Week 2024, Harmony Institute has organized an interfaith scriptural reasoning event to be held at the Center for Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes in Nyeri County, Kenya. This unique gathering aims to bring together Christians and Muslims in a shared exploration of the theme "Family and Love for Our Neighbors," guided by the sacred texts of the Quran and the Bible.

Date and Venue: The event will take place on 30th January, 2024 at the serene and welcoming Center for Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes in Nyeri County, Kenya.

Objectives of the Event:

  1. Fostering Interfaith Understanding: Create a platform for Christians and Muslims to engage in respectful and open dialogue, promoting a deeper understanding of each other's faith traditions.

  2. Exploring Common Values: Use scriptural reasoning to identify shared values and teachings on family and love for neighbors within the Quran and the Bible.

  3. Building Bridges of Peace: Encourage participants to reflect on how their respective faith traditions can contribute to promoting peace, unity, and compassion within families and communities.

  4. Promoting Inclusivity: Emphasize the importance of embracing diversity and promoting a sense of community that transcends religious boundaries.

Program Highlights:

  • Welcome and Opening Remarks: Set the tone for the event with a warm welcome and opening remarks from representatives of the Harmony Institute and the Center for Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes.

  • Scriptural Reasoning Sessions: Breakout sessions will allow participants to engage in in-depth discussions, drawing on passages from the Quran and the Bible that highlight the themes of family and love for neighbors.

  • Panel Discussion: A diverse panel of scholars and community leaders will discuss the intersections and commonalities found in the scriptural reasoning sessions, facilitating a deeper understanding of the shared values between Christianity and Islam.

  • Cultural Exchange and Networking: Participants will have the opportunity to engage in cultural exchange activities, fostering personal connections and building relationships that extend beyond the event.

Closing Ceremony: The event will conclude with a closing ceremony, during which participants will reflect on their experiences and commit to promoting the values of family and love for neighbors within their respective communities.

By creating a space for Christians and Muslims to engage in scriptural reasoning and dialogue, the Harmony Institute aims to contribute to a more inclusive and harmonious society, where individuals of different faiths can come together in mutual respect and understanding.
