A timely interfaith discussion will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Feb. 29 at the Islamic Center of Boston, 126 Boston Post Road, Wayland. The presentation and discussion will cover “One Nation, Indivisible-Seeking Liberty and Justice from the Pulpit to the Streets,” a book that brings together interfaith writings by various authors. “It is my conviction that robust and informed communication across our religious and philosophical differences is essential to our thriving as a multiethnic, multireligious and multicultural society,? said Book Editor Celene Ibrahim. “We understand that promoting civil dialogue on religion and multicultural relations is crucial to the advancement of civic society and democracy itself.” A Q&A session and small group discussions will occur afterward. These community interfaith forums are hosted annually by the Interfaith Book Club of the Islamic Center of Boston located in Wayland around a book of interest. Shaheen Akhtar has led the book group since 9/11 and has been a prominent leader of community interfaith work over two decades. The goal of this program, as well as the book group, is to foster a deeper mutual understanding within the communities. It is not a requirement to read the book to attend. Books will be available to purchase at the event. This event coincides with the World Interfaith Harmony Week held during February started by a U.N.’s resolution in October 2010.
