A Government defence minister and members of the Armed Forces visited the city to promote community understanding during the United Nations' World Interfaith Harmony Week. Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and non-faith Armed Forces personnel – many originally from Leicester – were accompanied by Earl Howe, Minister of State for Defence, and Leicester Imam Asim Hafiz, the spiritual advisor to the Armed Forces. They were welcomed to Leicester by the internationally recognised St Philip's Centre St Philip's Centre, in Stoughton Drive, North Evington, which works to build and enhance inter-faith relations.
