The Interfaith Centre of Melbourne / +61 (0)3 9650 7163This year we celebrate the UN World Interfaith Harmony Week by extending an invitation to the wider public, to bring people outside our interfaith networks to meet and share an open-air dining experience and actively support our diverse communities at our spectacular eighty metre dining table in the heart of the city. Women from several traditions have come together to host this unique dinner. We believe in the power of 'breaking bread' together and conversing with people who are different from one's own circle of family, friends and social environment. Tensions have arisen in our city through fear but when we come together to know each other a little better, we have the opportunity to change our stereotypic and /or negative perceptions. We invite people to come together in the spirit of Love of God and Love of the Neighbour. The title of this event, hashtag I’ll Dine With You, is inspired by the hashtag "I'll Ride With You" and aims to utilise the benefits of social media whilst embracing our religious and cultural diversity. We hope that people will be inspired enough by #IllDineWithYou to replicate the event in other towns and cities in our State of Victoria. Eighteen religious and cultural organisations are sponsors or supporters of this inaugural event. Bookings coming soon for catering.
