World Interfaith Harmony Day Celebration in Uganda Theme; promoting a more just and compassionate society World Interfaith Harmony Week is celebrated the first week of February and it is February 1st -7th every year. World Interfaith Harmony Week invites all people of goodwill, including those of different faiths and no faith to act for “Love of the Good, and Love of the Neighbor.” World Interfaith Harmony Week provides a platform—one week in a year—when interfaith groups and other groups of goodwill can show the world what a powerful movement they are. Interfaith Harmony Network Uganda (IHNU) invites individuals, groups, and congregations to join Compassion Harmony Games 2018 to celebrate World Interfaith Harmony Week 2018 from 1st February to 7th February 2018in Kampala.. Arrangements In our arrangements the games will consist of Football, Netball, Marathon and Indoor and Outdoor games, Culture diversity, which will be an affair of all diverse cultures, races and religion in Uganda. Football and netball will be competed for by Universities affiliated to Interreligious Council of Uganda. These are Anglicans (Protestants), Episcopes (Catholics) , UMC (Muslim), Adventists, Bahai, Born Again, Orthodox, Indi. (a)Football & Netball The first quarter of eight teams (each both netball and football) will be played on a home and away basis then the emerging four winners will qualify to the semi finals and the two winners will face each other in the grand finals. Fixtures 1stFebruary First quarter ,3rd February Second quarter,5th February Semi finals,7thFebruary Finals NB; Football and Netball will be played alongside the fixture. (B) Indoor and Outdoor games, for Culture diversity races and religion The Indoor outdoor games, for diverse cultures, races and religion, will be an affair of The Association of American, European, Indian , Pakistan , China , Budhist Community , Rastafari and others in Uganda. Activities will include an(a) Expo, where all will exhibit items and services. (b) Games- this involves tug rope competition, martial arts, basketball, cricket, cultural dances, Faith articulation, music and dance shows.(c) Cultural cuisine – Indian, Chinese, Pakistan and Uganda cuisine menu will be presented. Others will be things to do with children eg bouncing castle, ice cream and many more. All these at Lugogo Indoor Stadium on 4th February 2018.All sports associations in Uganda have joined the gala. Added on is Uganda private International schools showcasing. . (c)Interfaith Harmony Week Marathon( Run of Faith and Praise) Theme and Aim; Run for Interfaith Schools Sanitations. For Better Health. The Harmony Week Marathon is to take place on 4th February 2018 in Kampala. The Run for Interfaith Schools Sanitation for a Better Health project is an initiative of IHNU and the proceeds from the marathon will go towards building toilets, providing water tanks, sanitation sensitizing billboards/notice boards etc. Starting/Finishing point for the run is Kololo Airstrip. Detailed program will be out at the official launch. (d) Interfaith Leaders Forum. Several speakers will deliver harmony messages for unity and diversity These will include religious leaders, politicians, academics sponsors and corporate etc Activities summary • Thursday 1st, February2018 beginning of first quarter of Compassion Harmony Games 2018(Football/Netball) • Saturday 3rd February2018: The Second quarter of Compassion Harmony Games 2018(Football/Netball) • Sunday 4th February 2018: The Harmony Week Marathon Kololo Air strip and Indoor and Outdoor games, for Culture diversity races and religion at Lugogo Stadium. • Monday, February 5th 2018 Semi finals of Compassion Harmony Games 2018(Football/Netball) • Tuesday 6th February: Join (IHNU) for an Interfaith Leaders Forum. Several speakers will deliver harmony messages for unity and diversity. • Wednesday, February 7th World Interfaith Harmony Day Celebration Final Gala in Kampala at Kampala Capital City Authority ground. Finals Compassion Harmony Games 2018. Other activities include Faith Groups Booths With Information on Each Faith, Appetizers, Refreshments and Stimulating Conversation. When all the hearts and minds are put together with a positive attitude everyday, changes become easier to implement and problems become easier to solve.
