"Beyond Bridges" is an interfaith visual art exhibition showcasing 21 works by Arab, Persian and Jewish contemporary artists from countries of Muslim, Christian and Jewish backgrounds. Its theme is what "bridges" people to one another, as well as what the three faiths of the artists hold in common across their different creeds and cultures.
An opening panel and reception for the exhibition will be held at the Chapel on Sunday, February 5, at 6:00 p.m.
The panel discussion will explore how the arts provide a creative conduit for interfaith dialogue.
Light hors d’oeuvres will be served immediately following the panel discussion.
The exhibition will remain on display in Duke Chapel's main sanctuary (the nave) from February 5 through February 26, 2017 and will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.
"Beyond Bridges" is curated by CARAVAN, a peace-building arts nonprofit that originated in Cairo, Egypt. The collection builds on the success of the group's 2015-16 exhibition The Bridge, which was displayed in cathedrals, museums, galleries, and interfaith centers in Cairo, Chicago, London, New York, Paris, Portland, and other cities.
