Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev was among the major speakers at the official opening of the event. In his statement the Bulgarian Head of State will put an accent on how the international dialogue can respond to the radicalisation and extremism. The event was attended by President of the Senate of Italy Pietro Grasso; former Italian president Giorgio Napolitano (2006-2015); Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov; former Latvian president and co-chairperson of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga; former Italian foreign minister (2002-2004, 2008-2011) and former European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security (2004-2008)Franco Frattini; and others. The 7th International High-level Meeting on Interfaith Dialogue discusses the interfaith dialogue in response to radicalisation and extremism, dissemination of a culture of peace, identification of the sources of radicalisation and violent extremism and counter-measures, and the role of the society and the state in reinforcing spiritual cohesion among followers of religions.
